...It does look like I won't be going to Worlds after all, at least not this month. Which is, obviously, understandable, but disappointing, especially as I spent a lot of money on the trip.

I'm holding out hope that it gets rescheduled when things are a little safer here, and also not during the week I'll be in New York.

1) IT'S OFFICIAL, LADIES AND GENTS, I AM GOING TO WORLDS. I AM GOING TO THE MEN'S SP.

AND MY SEAT IS FUCKING AMAZING, TO BOOT. I WILL TAKE SO MANY PICTURES OF DAISUKE TAKAHASHI AND RYAN BRADLEY EVERYONE.

2) OH MY GOD OH MY GOD OH MY GOD OH MY GOD OH MY GOD OH MY GOD OH MY GOD

TROY'S FACE IN MY ICON IS MY FACE EXCEPT MINE IS HAPPIER

I LITERALLY WENT 8D WHEN I SAW THE URL

I MAY CRY WHEN I AM HOLDING IT IN MY HANDS

I feel like literally every post I make lately is a "I swear I'm not dead" post. Regardless: I'm not dead!

My life has been alternately super busy and then not busy at all for a solid two-week period where I had the stomach flu and no energy to even write words, so I've been kind of... inactive. Also, there was WoW. But! I have a few things to say:

1) IMPORTANT MESSAGE FOR NYC GQMFS AND ALL OTHER NEW YORK TYPES: I WILL BE BACK IN NEW YORK FROM APRIL 28TH-MAY 9TH. ROUND UP THE PARTY PATROL.

2) Media shit: Saw Black Swan, did not like it. Have not seen any other movies, because we don't have those newfangled cinemaplex things out here in the boonies. TV has been kicking ass lately, anyway. Community has returned to being my #1 jam, with Parks in a close second. I already miss Cougar Town. I'm disgustingly addicted to Grey's and really miss Owen, WHERE HAS HE BEEN LATELY? I started watching The Vampire Diaries and Fairly Legal but am fairly ambivalent towards both so far.

3) Speaking of shows I find mediocre, I wrote Big Bang Theory fic! (I kid, I kid... mostly. From what I've seen of the fandom, it seems better than the show itself has been lately.) Which I will post in the next post, so apologies for clogging up your flists.

4) WINTER IS COMING. WINTER IS COMING. You guys, I am getting so fucking excited about this series.

5) And speaking of things I am getting so fucking excited about, there is a fair chance I may, in fact, be going to the figure skating World Championships in Tokyo. *_* Only for one day, only for the Men's SP/Pairs SP (in b4 LOL pairs), but oh my God I might actually get to see both Daisuke Takahashi and Ryan Bradley compete in the same event PROOF THAT DREAMS COME TRUE.

Sorry for the multiple entries, but separately from the last post, I thought I should mention for my fellow skating fans that 1) the incredible Shizuka Arakawa has a twitter, and 2) I did a bunch of random translations over in this thread and then realized I should just make my own post and stop taking up [livejournal.com profile] strongplacebo's inbox.

Things we have learned: loves sweets, hates veggies, fangirls Johnny (I'm sorry, "Gaga-sama"), chills with Stéphane, and calls herself a penguin. You guys, I think the whole "Icy Heart" thing may be looking at a revamp.

Also, breaking news in this extremely important tweet from tonight:

"Kittens are so cute♪ Though I'm allergic, I want to play. And the shocking truth is, kitties are allergic to me. (LOL) The 4 cats are doing AGeyes [No idea what this is -- possibly she means Anne Geddes?] while they play... The one I yearn for is the white tiger ~ I want to meet one someday☆"

I kind of have embarrassing feelings about that last part. I'M SORRY, BUT I DO. SHE WOULD NOT BE THE FIRST ONE TO SAY "TIGER" INSTEAD OF "ZEBRA." Oh God, I have to go skate and cry now, don't I?

So I'm way behind in the midst of all this crazy IRL business, but today has been a pretty big day in fandom! Let's discuss.

The Emmys, Johnny Weir, Daisuke Takahashi, World of Warcraft )

There's a lot of other stuff I've been meaning to talk about, like how we finished LOST and how the Karate Kid was fucking awesome and how everything about The Last Airbender makes me want to weep blood, but that can all wait for a later date.

In the meantime, um... Work of Art is seriously the best new reality show around and you should all watch it, there's a Community marathon on NBC tonight and you should all watch it, and Mad Men is coming back ON THE DAY I LEAVE THE COUNTRY sob. But you should all watch it anyway.

:D

You guys, I am so excited about this I can't even stand it.

(For those who don't know, my current astral husband, Daisuke Takahashi, is having two new programs choreographed for him by my other current astral husband, Stephane Lambiel*. One of the programs is being described as "the story of a magical character who lives in the woods ... [who] meets, among others creatures, butterflies. But also a monster. He will fight it." JE SUIS EXCITE.)

*Someday I will learn to type accent marks, I swear.

Speaking of excite: Exactly one week till I'm back in NY, and exactly one month until I leave for Japan! OH MY GOD. I still have so much to do. D:

eta Oh also speaking of excite OH MY GOD NEW FUTURAMA NEW FUTURAMA NEW FUTURAMA I HAVEN'T WATCHED IT YET BUT WE ARE SO GOING TO TONIGHT.

eta2 I also forgot, we are now TWO EPISODES away from the end of LOST. Which means I'm past everything I've been spoiled for ( :( ) and oh man, two episodes, seriously. I have no idea how they're going to wrap this shit up in like three hours, damn.
okayawesome: laura roslin (magical flying zebra with wiiings)
Stayed up late to watch Super Medalist on Ice or whatever the hell it's called. TOTALLY WORTH IT. A lot of the programs were far too srs bsns for my tastes (I don't know why anyone does serious programs at an exhibition), but then YAGUDIN and PLUSHENKO and STEPHANE LAMBIEL THE ZEBRA OF MY HEART made it all worthwhile. Stephane's new exhibition is amazing. I can't wait for it to get uploaded to Youtube. I will watch it every day.

Relatedly, this Evan Lysacek picspam made my day. It's so perfectly "LOL Evan."

And non-relatedly, I am seeking a second beta for a Star Trek fic! It's like ~4000 words of mirrorverse Kirk/Spock. Any takers?
okayawesome: laura roslin (magical flying zebra with wiiings)
Other than [livejournal.com profile] perculious, anyway.

BUT I DO.

BECAUSE I HATE EVAN LYSACEK.

HE IS A GIANT ORANGE DOUCHE WHO MAKES WOMEN CRY AND CHEERFULLY PROFITS FROM/ENDORSES HOMOPHOBIA.

VOTE NICOLE.
okayawesome: laura roslin (magical flying zebra with wiiings)
I know in every post I'm like "I will do less keysmashing about skating" and then totally fail to actually stop talking about it. But I decided I had to finally icon up, and then wasted 20 minutes staring at Daisuke and the stupidly hot Brian Joubert (and his constant nudity) and anyway to make a long story short I just wound up stealing this one from [livejournal.com profile] hobnobofjoy because it's Lambiel romancing a zebra, and what better way to sum up my feelings about figure skating?

But to change the subject entirely: I see I've reached that time of year again where I just cannot stop rewatching Due South and rereading classic Due South fic. I blame [livejournal.com profile] technathene, who as soon as I got down South was like HEY REMEMBER WHEN WE USED TO WATCH DUE SOUTH IN COLLEGE LET'S DO THAT AGAIN. And then I remembered, oh yes, this is the fandom of my heart.

I've already been through like, all of Resonant and Speranza and Arrow00's backlogs again, and reread Family Portrait, and jumped on Spuffyduds's awesome little Bedverse and I am not yet sated, so: what great Fraser/RayK have I totally been missing out on lately? Or what classics have I forgotten? Indulge me.
okayawesome: laura roslin (Default)

Oh my freaking God. I'm laughing in horror right now.

I realize I've barely posted at all lately, and then when I do I usually feel like I should post about something other than skating. And especially about something other than Johnny Weir and Evan Douchecek, because really, I like, like... every other skater more than either of them (someday I will do a post about why Daisuke Takahashi should be the ruler of Earth).

But when someone calls someone else a slore on national television, I cannot resist.

eta If this doesn't make it on The Soup this week, I'm TOSing the planet.

unrelated eta2 Is there anyone who can beta a couple thousand words of Spock/Kirk mirrorverse porn for me?

eta3 Because wank is fast a-brewing everywhere! No, I don't think it's classy, non-juvenile, or non-tacky for anyone to be throwing words like slut and whore around. But it is also dramalicious, and I'm sorry, this whole thing is becoming both aggravating and fucking hilarious.
okayawesome: laura roslin (ten you're just a virgin who can't drive)
Okay, so I haven't posted about it much, but during my latest convalescence, in the wake of the Olympics, I've been getting pretty into the whole figure skating thing. Sometimes, it's lovely to watch, like The Swan, or Takahashi's 2010 short, or anything Queen Yu-Na does. Sometimes, it's kind of hilarious and kind of sad, like every episode of Be Good Johnny Weir.

And then sometimes Stephane Lambiel dresses up like a cat and skates to creepy meowing.

So yeah, that exists in the world.

In other news, there are still three unguessed quotes on my movie meme (seriously, you guys killed that, I'm going to pick harder movies next time!), and one more round of Fandom Steel Cage March Madness! You had best go over and vote Buffy!

edit hoshit, I forgot it was March 11th. HAPPY 11TH OF MARCH, DUE SOUTH FANDOM.
