I feel like literally every post I make lately is a "I swear I'm not dead" post. Regardless: I'm not dead!

My life has been alternately super busy and then not busy at all for a solid two-week period where I had the stomach flu and no energy to even write words, so I've been kind of... inactive. Also, there was WoW. But! I have a few things to say:

1) IMPORTANT MESSAGE FOR NYC GQMFS AND ALL OTHER NEW YORK TYPES: I WILL BE BACK IN NEW YORK FROM APRIL 28TH-MAY 9TH. ROUND UP THE PARTY PATROL.

2) Media shit: Saw Black Swan, did not like it. Have not seen any other movies, because we don't have those newfangled cinemaplex things out here in the boonies. TV has been kicking ass lately, anyway. Community has returned to being my #1 jam, with Parks in a close second. I already miss Cougar Town. I'm disgustingly addicted to Grey's and really miss Owen, WHERE HAS HE BEEN LATELY? I started watching The Vampire Diaries and Fairly Legal but am fairly ambivalent towards both so far.

3) Speaking of shows I find mediocre, I wrote Big Bang Theory fic! (I kid, I kid... mostly. From what I've seen of the fandom, it seems better than the show itself has been lately.) Which I will post in the next post, so apologies for clogging up your flists.

4) WINTER IS COMING. WINTER IS COMING. You guys, I am getting so fucking excited about this series.

5) And speaking of things I am getting so fucking excited about, there is a fair chance I may, in fact, be going to the figure skating World Championships in Tokyo. *_* Only for one day, only for the Men's SP/Pairs SP (in b4 LOL pairs), but oh my God I might actually get to see both Daisuke Takahashi and Ryan Bradley compete in the same event PROOF THAT DREAMS COME TRUE.

Where exactly are you? We were lucky to have a couple of decently-sized theaters near us (though the best was only reachable by car - which we had for 2 of the 3 years). Almost everything was 3 months late, though, lol. But YAY for JP subtitle versions rather than dubs!

I'm in basically a suburb of Oita, so it's not really the boonies, unless you consider the fact that Oita, itself, is sort of in the middle of nowhere. We do have one movie theater in town, but it's tiny and only shows Japanese movies and dubbed vintage cinema. There are three in Oita proper, but they're a huuuuge pain the ass to get to without a car, so the only movie I've seen here was the one everyone else went to that I could get a ride to, i.e., Harry Potter. >>

Yes, the first year without a car was highly painful. We'd been without in Cairo as well, and I was just tired of it. We could afford it easily, so we just went for it. Got a little hatchback and Japanese licenses too (after 3 and 5 tries respectively). It was amazing how Japan just opened up freed from public transportation. Even drove to Tokyo!

So, yeah, we didn't see many movies the first year, and that was pre-torrents/easy DLing for us as well!

I have no American license, so a Japanese license would be close to impossible to me (you have to go through driving school, which costs like... twice my monthly salary). Mostly there's enough public transportation here to get by without one, so it's not a huge deal, but it does make the movies a pain. My DL speed also sucks so I basically only watch things I can stream. >>;

I agree about Big Bang Theory. They've been disappointing lately. Though, I do think Amy Farrah Fowler is a great addition.

The Vampire Diaries is tricky like that. For a long time, you're like, "ehhhhh I guess I'll keep watching this but it's pretty crap", and then all of a sudden you can't stop watching and you freak out over every plot twist and sometimes it makes you cry. :(
