Yes, it's written by Diablo Cody. Do not let that turn you off. If you didn't know, you wouldn't be able to tell. There's no homeslicing here; just good, surprisingly honest, slightly quirky comedy, with an edge of tension that makes me nervous even when nothing in particular is going on -- because you just know something is about to.
Also, it has Marshall.
Don't tell me the way to your hearts is not with an adorable gay boy.
