Dear Yuletide Author:
Nov. 13th, 2009 05:05 pmHooray, you are writing me a story! First off, thank you for your time and hard work. I've never done this exchange before and you have no idea how unbelievably excited I am to get a tiny fandom story written just for me! And I have to comment you on your excellent taste, which you clearly have if you've offered one or more fandoms from my list.
So without further ado, my info. Luckily for you, I don't think I'm very hard to write for, since I'll probably be excited to the point of ridiculous keysmashing by just about anything you do. I do have some preferences, though:
Things I Like: Humor, most of all. If there's even a single line that makes me laugh, I consider it a success. This applies even to angst -- I eat up angst with a spoon, but I have to admit, I like to see moments of at least irony or dark humor even in the bleakest stories. I will admit that I also have a soft spot for happy or at least hopeful endings, so maybe I'm just a big sap. As for rating, anything from gen to NC-17 is just fine.
Specific tropes I like are hurt/comfort, power imbalances, one (or more) character(s) being a dope about the other, and, if you want to go for porn, just about any instance of "we have to spend the night together because we're stuck/faking it/whatever."
Things I Don't Like: Really intense violence, torture, non-con, hardcore BDSM, non-canon death, etc. I think you can get the idea. If you have to go for the pain, I like it emotional more than physical.
However, optional details are totally optional, and seriously, I would rather you write something that you think is awesome than something you don't like. (But um, really please don't rape anyone. And I have a big eye-squick, so please, no.)
As for my prompts:
Community
Any - One of the students has a special project for a (non-Spanish) class, and they enlist their new friends' help to finish it. Can be gen, het, slash, G, R, whatever!
I'm honestly of the opinion right now that any Community fic is good Community fic. My only stipulation is that this is the one fandom I really really really don't want angst in, so please, go for the funny. As for characters, I especially love Troy, Abed, and Annie (and Troy/Abed and Jeff/Annie for ships), but I picked "any" because I really enjoy all the character dynamics. In fact, I'd love it if you could get a little bit of the more unusual interactions in there, like Britta and Annie or Abed and Pierce (as random examples, not necessarily those!).
Basically, I want more of what I love about the show, in fic form: the humor, the amazing mix of characters and relationships, andRyan Seacrest-- forget that last one. Oh, and if you can somehow have Abed and Troy close out the fic, ultra-super-mega bonus points.
Eastwick (2009 tv)
Joanna Frankel/Penny Higgins - Penny knows Joanna can do better than Will. All she has to do is prove it to her. Please femmeslash, please please please?
Okay, you don't absolutely have to do femmeslash for this, but I would love to have some. I ship Penny/Joanna ridiculously hard. If you want to make this gen friendship fic or het, and have Penny hook Joanna up with someone else, that's also okay. What I really love about this twosome either way is Penny's grounded, dry-humored, take-no-shit attitude as compared to Joanna's general flightiness and being slightly insane, so I'd like something that really captures that dynamic and expands on it.
What I love about the show in general: The way absolutely ridiculous things happen in conjunction with semi-reality, and the way everyone's neuroses are basically surface-level. Oh, and if you want to put Darryl in there, you're welcome to, because any time Paul Gross is onscreen going "look at me, I'm awesome" is a big A+ in my book.
Great Teacher Onizuka (tv)
Kikuchi Yoshito/Nomura Tomoko - Any story about Tomoko and Kikuchi's relationship would be amazing. How they met, how they got together, when they decided to tell everyone, how they dealt with Tomoko being away, anything.
If you picked this, writer, you are actually the dream of my heart. Except you probably aren't because this is my (1,1) fandom, but maybe I'll get lucky and someone will see this and write it. Anyway, Kikuchi and Tomoko actually seem to have kind of a similar dynamic to Joanna and Penny from Eastwick -- he's sarcastic and grounded, she's more emotional and up in the clouds. Since we got so little of them on the show, I really want fic that explores how they work together. Has Tomoko changed him? Has he changed her? What is it they see in each other?
What I love about the show in general: Every time I watch this, my heartstrings are tugged like crazy. It's as sweet as it gets but rarely goes over the line into Pushing-Daisies-saccharine.
Hard Core Logo
Billy Tallent/Joe Dick - Billy and Joe are both jealous/envious in their own ways. How do they each manifest their jealousy, and how do they each deal with it? Slash preferred, but gen is okay.
Okay, this is the one fandom where I'm 150% totally A-OK with absurd amounts of angst and drama and even violence. Billy/Joe is one intense relationship, and I like it that way. The only thing I'd ask you to stay away from is the "Joe raped Billy" fanon, which I'm not really into, but I'm cool with dubcon. What I'm most interested in, with them, is the way they're both kind of codependent and also horrible to each other. Joe seems worse on the surface, but Billy is both malicious and needy in his own subtler way. We also get to see a lot more of Joe's feelings in the movie, so I'm interested in seeing some more out of Billy.
What I love about the movie in general: The blend of bleak, bitter drama with deadpan irony; the way it juxtaposes the guys playing the movie game with images of Joe's future, the way they're fighting like cats one second and leaning on each other the next. They say this movie is about the death of punk, and it is, and I love that (and shit, if you can find a way to work that in, you'd be the best writer ever), but it's also absolutely about the ongoing death of a relationship, and two people, and I love that too.
So... yeah, this got long, and I hope this isn't too much for you. If you start to feel overwhelmed by any of this, please, just write what you feel best about! You're already making me happy just by writing for one of my small fandoms -- anything more than that is just gravy or icing or brownie points, as far as I'm concerned.
