I mean, it's not like it's the first time he's ever said something horrible, but I can't think of anything more blatantly, upfront horrible. He's usually so much more snide and passive-aggressive and "I would represent the US honorably" or "Some skaters say they did a triple axel in two weeks" or whatever creepy little things come out of his mouth when he thinks no one knows he's obsessively badmouthing Johnny Weir. I mean, there was that stupid Stars on Ice thing, but I'm going to go ahead and say this is worse. What the fuck.

And what really tears me up is, is he going to get any ramifications for that bullshit? Is anyone on Team USA going to say two words about this? Are we going to hear from any sponsors about how they aren't interested in having a homophobic gender-bashing fuckhead shitbird like Evan Lysacek representing them? LET'S HEAR IT, FLEXJET. COME ON.

I don't have much hope either that there'll be backlash for this shit, especially from the USFSA. I can't even look at the _skating comments -- even the thought of anybody excusing or trying to explain his behavior away makes me want to throw things.

_skating was actually pretty decent! Last time I looked there were a handful of idiots, but they were being pretty consistently dogpiled, and there are definitely some previous Evan!wives who have been turned off.

But yeah, I agree about the backlash. I wish there would be, though. :(

Unfortunately, it's the sort of thing where like... It's not the first time he's hinted that he feels this way, or said bigoted things in public -- it's just the first time it's been this open and blatantly phobic. There have been a lot of comments in his past that maybe to the general public don't seem that awful that are really, if you know skating, targeted and nasty towards Johnny Weir and his presentation in particular.

So basically, I've always hated him, it's just a lot easier to explain why now. :/
