In exciting news, I am finishing Avatar TONIGHT. Wow, I am just amazed at how completely awesome that show got. I've just been sitting here with stars in my eyes at like every single thing that happens.

In less exciting news, the movie toys are starting to be released. Oh my God, the whiteness, it burns. I don't know why but for some reason Sokka is the worst one of all for me. His hair. D: THE WATER TRIBE AIN'T WHITE, SHYAMALAN. >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(

I mean, I know no one else is either, but... IDK, that's the one that's really upsetting for me. >:( They are straight-up brown-skinned in the cartoon! This movie is like the culmination of every horrible attempt at whitewashing ever.

They are SO WHITE. I don't think I can bear to see the movie, even illegally. It sounds like it's just going to be terrible.

...As far as I CAN REMEMBER there are NO white people in Avatar. Unless you want to count the Fire people, but I don't. Because that's pushing it.

I feel like the outer Earth Kingdom makes more sense, though. They have those swamp guys. The Fire Nation is practically screaming HI THERE we are a metaphor for Asian imperialism :D

The racebending website has a fascinating essay about the history of yellow-face in cinema. It's so fucked up how Asians cannot even be cast as Asians. And M. Night, Jesus. What were you thinking?

I seriously do not even know. It kills me that he's even said the reason he wanted to do the movie is because his daughter loves Katara (I think she even dressed up like her?) and yet his own little girl is going to go to this movie and instead of seeing someone that looks like her, she's going to see a white girl.
