Fall is here, and while back in New Hampshire that meant beautiful leaves turning and shit like that, here it means there's lots of American TV to carry me through my boredom. Last year, I was too busy to really catch anything new, but between my back injury and packing up to move (I have a gooorgeous new apartment, y'all), I've had nothing to do, so it's basically been NOTHING BUT PREMIERES for me.

Let's see how everything stacks up!

New Shows )

Returning Shows )

Unpremieres: Shows that just ended or are mid-run )

Meanwhile, I quit The Big Bang Theory and Grey's Anatomy without bothering to watch the premieres. I just... can't seem to drum up the interest in either of them. OTOH, totally going to be catching Once Upon a Time when that comes out. My beloved Cougar Town is pushed to midseason, and I guess so is 30 Rock? :( Mad Men is pushed to FOREVER (seriously, MARCH, WTF). Game Of Thrones and Sirens are both back in April, and Misfits... when the hell is Misfits back, anyway?

So... anyway, I like TV. Let's talk about TV.

Shockingly, I am once again behind on things. WHEN HAS THAT EVER HAPPENED? I ask you.

But for real, I'm still putting together my Yuletide recs, but there was a decent amount of good stuff this year! I especially recommend, without doing the full list, the A Song of Ice and Fire section.

In the meantime, I, myself, wrote fic! Which, according to my LJ, I haven't done since spring, so wow. I totally didn't realize it had been that long.

Title: A Visit From Whitman (Or, 'Twas the Day After Christmas Vacation)
Fandom: Community
Pairing: Gen, but feel free to read Troy and Abed as a couple! I know I do.
Rating: G
Words: 2510
Notes: Written for doorrepairgirl for Yuletide 2010.

Summary: In which Troy and Abed team up to find the missing study group, with help from an unlikely source. Oh, and there's poetry.

They scoured the campus;
or at least thought they did;
They even asked Pavel and
that weird glasses kid.

I also wrote Misfits fic for New Year's Resolution 2011!

Title: The Rise and Fall of Miss Fantastic and the Invisible Man
Fandom: Misfits
Pairing: Simon/Alisha
Rating: R (mostly for language and general Nathan-ness, with a little sex)
Words: 2940
Notes: Written for alyse for Yuletide 2010/New Year's Resolution 2011

Summary: Alisha tells Simon that he's going to be a better man. Simon doesn't tell Alisha that he's getting sick of watching her wait for it.

He's working and working at it, weight training, balance, aim, reflexes—and, of course, the bloody parkour—and it's enough that Nathan sees him with his shirt off after a run and asks, “Who the fuck are you and what have you done with our Barry?”

But every time he comes home with a cut or a bruise, Alisha sees it, and he sees her seeing it.

No, no, don't mind me. Normally I love [livejournal.com profile] community_tv, I'm just hating right now because I watched this week's episode and immediately wanted to talk about how fucking amazing it was, only to find half the community griping about it. Knock, knock! Who's there? Cancer! Oh, good, come in! I thought it was [livejournal.com profile] community_tv!

Slight spoilers )

Plus, actually, can we focus on what's really important, which is heaping praise on Don Glover? I don't think there's another actor out there that could make Troy work the way he does.

Speaking of hate, LOL Grey's Anatomy, I know, but I really hope that everyone griping about Cristina's storyline shuts up after this week's episode. Seriously, just stop. It's awesome.

On a positive note, even though NaNo failed, I'm really looking forward to Yuletide. My assignment is kind of tricky -- I actually wound up picking a fandom I didn't sign up for as opposed to the one I did, but both are a little difficult to right -- but I think it's going to be really fun. Unfortunately, I can't start until Monday, because I have a GIANT EXAM tomorrow. Four hours of Japanese hell that I am going to fail miserably. Yay!

...But then things should get awesome?

Anyway. Happy Chanukah, everyone!

So I kind of forgot how excited I was about Community, until suddenly, I realized A: the premiere of season two is A WEEK AWAY and B: the DVD release is LESS THAN A WEEK AWAY. AND THERE IS A FREAKING SOUNDTRACK THAT IS AWESOME.

So now I'm basically about to explode with excitement.

Flist, once again, I urge you: WATCH THE SHIT OUT OF THIS SHOW. IT IS SO DAMN GOOD.

okayawesome: laura roslin (FACEPALM.)
So I'm way behind in the midst of all this crazy IRL business, but today has been a pretty big day in fandom! Let's discuss.

The Emmys, Johnny Weir, Daisuke Takahashi, World of Warcraft )

There's a lot of other stuff I've been meaning to talk about, like how we finished LOST and how the Karate Kid was fucking awesome and how everything about The Last Airbender makes me want to weep blood, but that can all wait for a later date.

In the meantime, um... Work of Art is seriously the best new reality show around and you should all watch it, there's a Community marathon on NBC tonight and you should all watch it, and Mad Men is coming back ON THE DAY I LEAVE THE COUNTRY sob. But you should all watch it anyway.
okayawesome: laura roslin (abed and jeff speak the truth)
So I watched the Community finale! And I feel the need to, IDK, defend it or something.

TL;DR: Overanalyzing, unpopular opinions, and spoilers ahead )
okayawesome: laura roslin (nuclear bombs!)
SO THAT WAS PRETTY RIDICULOUSLY AWESOME Y/Y/Y/Y/Y

I'm guessing the only person who enjoyed that more than I did was [livejournal.com profile] stepliana.

Vaguely spoilery? )
okayawesome: laura roslin (nuclear bombs!)
I rarely wear t-shirts anymore but I am so tempted by this. It's totally streets ahead.

Ahem.

So... is it weird that the latest Community kind of totally made me ship Annie/Shirley? And suspect that Abed does too?

OH WAIT, IT'S COMMUNITY, THE MULTI-SHIPPIEST SHOW ON TELEVISION.

In unrelated fan news: skating has taken over my brain. People who are responsible for this, you know who you are. But most currently I blame Stephane Lambiel because every time I see him I go

and DAISUKE FUCKING TAKAHASHI, THE GQMF OF WORLDS 2010. I have no gifs but LOOK AT THIS FLY MOTHERFUCKER.

HE LISTENED TO SOME BEYONCE AND THEN WENT AND KICKED ASS ALL OVER TORINO. I love him.

...So anyway, that happened. I've actually been working all week (I have a job again! for... like three weeks! what up!) and missed most of Worlds, but I was off today and spent way too much time catching up, including wasting the entire morning on the Women's SP when I should have been doing housework. So now I have it on the brain. Let's jam, flist. I know there are at least a few of you out there.

So [livejournal.com profile] purimgifts, which I pinch-hit for, is over, and I get to reveal my fic! Hooray.

The [livejournal.com profile] purimgifts challenge is to write a short fic over three days that focuses on 1) a female character and/or 2) a Jewish character and/or 3) a character struggling with an evil vizier. Luckily, one of my prompts was for Community, so I got to try for all three.

Title: Holy War 2: Annie's Choice
Fandom: Community
Pairing: Basically gen, but with hints of Señor Chang/Annie(!?)
Rating: PG
Words: 2002
Notes: Written for jadelennox in the Purim Gifts challenge. This ended up being a super-fast pinch hit, so it is, I'm afraid, unbeta'd. Also, the icons are for jadelennox, but as far as I'm concerned if anyone wants them they can go ahead and take them, with credit.

Summary: When the High Holidays come to Greendale, Señor Chang leaves Annie with a difficult decision.

For the sake of laziness not having to reformat, I'm just going to link to AO3 for a change.

Day One
Day Two
Day Three

Happy Purim!
okayawesome: laura roslin (gob is happier than michael)

(Yes, this is a real thing that NBC made. Community, you are the best show ever.)

Anyway, I decided to spend today alone and so gently lied to get out of bailed on my plans. Obviously my girl card will have to get revoked! But in the meantime, I'm enjoying a quiet house, a space heater, and a well-stocked refrigerator. Ah, sloth and gluttony, you are my true loves.

How's your Valentine's going, all?
okayawesome: laura roslin (nuclear bombs!)
WOW SO HEY, FRIENDSLIST, CAN WE TALK ABOUT THAT EPISODE OF COMMUNITY?

Things I shipped before: Jeff/Annie (I don't care if it's creepy, you're creepy >:( ), Troy/Abed

Things I ship now: EVERYONE WITH EVERYONE, EXCEPTING PIERCE BUT INCLUDING PROFESSOR CHANG AND PROFESSOR SLATER.
okayawesome: laura roslin (my cOmmuniTP)
By the way, I didn't want to sully [livejournal.com profile] rivereyes's birthday post with my tawdriness, but I also wrote some Troy/Abed for the porn battle!

Title: Touch You Twice
Fandom: Community
Pairing: Troy/Abed (and tiny bits of bonus Jeff/Annie and Jeff/Britta?)
Rating: NC-17
Words: 1,439
Spoilers: None, except for the end (and alternate/original end) of "Pretty in Pink"

Summary: Abed's movie obsession is starting to clash with his real life desires.

There weren't lessons on how to make subtext into text. )
okayawesome: laura roslin (that's racist!)
1) This episode was the best ever and I'm so glad it was the one I used to try and get my dad into the show because Top Chef is winding to a close and we need something else to watch together.

EXCEPT, I THINK IT MAY ACTUALLY BE DIFFICULT TO WATCH WITH HIM BECAUSE:

Cut for Community spoilers and squee! )

Cut for fic! )

Oh hey, and this is the inaugural fic for this journal. More to come, though!
