So, we're only a week away from the book going on general sale, now. But if anyone wants to go ahead and ruin the second half of A Dance with Dragons, here it is...

Again, these are going to be, for the most part, summaries of what's happening, rather than specific details. MAJOR spoilers will be whitetexted for your pleasure.

The second half of the book does, indeed, pick up from where AFFC left off, for better or worse.

Which means...

Arya: NOT BLIND. At least, not for more than one chapter. As predicted, it's part of her Faceless Man training. She only has a couple of chapters, so her story is basically, "Arya becomes more of a sociopath, also, kills a dude."

Cersei: ALIVE. At least, for now. Actually, I'm pretty pissed about the way her story is going, and I say that as a pretty big Cersei hater. George seems really intent on knocking her down a peg -- which is what happens here -- and I do not love it.

Jaime: ALSO ALIVE. At least, for now. He does some politicking and then disappears for the rest of the story...

BRIENNE: STILL ALIVE. At least, for now. This is pretty big, so highlight to read: It seems that Brienne has taken Cat's deal, because she shows up at Jaime's camp and tells him that she's found Sansa. She leads him away, and neither of them appear again in the book. RUH-ROH.

Victarion Greyjoy: I don't know, are there people who care about this douche? He's alive, he's heading to Dany, he's a douche. Oh, and his hand is on fire.

Sam: No clue! Not in the book, except for exactly repeating the scene with Jon from AFFC at the beginning of ADWD. I still find that weird.

Sansa: Even less of a clue! She does not appear in this one at all. I suspect she's just sort of off in the Vale, learning how to be awesome/a creeper from Fake Daddy Pedobear.

That's where the cast of AFFC picks up in ADWD. As for the plot we've been following in this book...:

THE EASTERN SEABOARD: Okay, Essos is definitely the next stage for a lot of shit to go down. A lot of the main cast have made it out there, and the ones who haven't are finally learning the truth about what's happening with, you know, the two-year-old dragons and all.

Oh, except for super secret mystery dude Prince Aegon Targaryen, who, after chatting with Tyrion, decides to turn back and head for Westeros, to take advantage of the total chaos that's going on there in the wake of everything going to shit. Fake Daddy Jon Connington goes with him and has a lot of reminiscing about the good old days with Rhaegar that make me wonder if he was sort of the Loras to Rhaegar's Renly.

But over in Mereen, Dany is realizing that being queen of a city that hates you just totally sucks. She gets married to try and fix it, but to put it mildly, I do not think her new husband Hizdahr is going to be a head of the dragon. Most of Dany's stuff is politicking and trying to make it work with Mereen, until someone maybe tries to poison her, IDK, because Drogon shows up again and kills some people and she FLIES AWAY ON HIM. That was a pretty great moment. Then she wanders the desert for a while and, AMAZINGLY, WINDS UP TAKING OVER A NEW KHALASAAR WITH HER DRAGON. Sound familiar? She thinks so, too.

Meanwhile, like everyone else makes it out there: Victarion is sailing with the Iron Fleet, but Quentyn Martell and Tyrion, with Jorah, both beat him there by ages and ages. Of course, Quentyn gets totally shot down by Dany and then dies horribly while trying to steal Viserion, WHOOPS, and Tyrion and Jorah and Tyrion's new dwarf friend Penny all get captured by slavers. Tyrion, being Tyrion, bounces back.

Oh, and Barristan Selmy gets a POV! I like him, he's sort of the new Ned but less stupid. His story is mostly dealing with the aftermath of Dany's story, but I liked reading his POV because of all the historical detail.

OH RIGHT, THE OTHER PLACES... LIKE THE NORTH: What focus there is in ADWD, the vast majority of it is on Essos, but back in Westeros, the Wall is a pretty busy place, too. Basically, Jon is like... totally changing everything about the north, and no one is really happy about it. Wildlings have the Gift and half the castles on the Wall, wildlings are joining the Watch, and Jon is trying to send men out to collect more wildlings before they all die and become wights. The Night's Watch is pissed, and in response (SERIOUSLY MAJOR SPOILER AHEAD) THEY STAB HIM TO DEATH, WHAT THE FUCK. Okay, I don't actually know he's dead, he's probably not dead because he's Jon Snow, but they stab him at least four times and Ghost is not there to stop it because Jon is an idiot and forgot the 'AND THAT'S WHY YOU NEVER LOCK UP YOUR DIREWOLF' lesson.

To the slightly-south, Stannis, with Asha in captivity, get snowed in for a while, three days from Winterfell, while Ramsay and Roose Bolton party it up like creepers in the broken walls of the castle itself. Theon nee Reek nee Theon grabs the fake Arya nee Jeyne and escapes to Stannis's camp! But then Ramsay writes a letter to Jon, claiming he's killed Stannis. I'm not so sure I buy that, since he also is like WHERE ARE FAKE!ARYA AND REEK? Shouldn't you know, buddy?

Oh, and in Dorne there's some more politicking, and it's pretty dull. Man, Dorne is a disappointment.

Admittedly, the very end gets sort of interesting again. I'm going to whitetext it all because, well, it's the very end:

So Kevan Lannister is Regent and currently ruling for Tommen, along with Pycelle and the rest of the council. OH, UNTIL VARYS SHOWS UP AGAIN AND HAS HIS LITTLE BIRDS, WHO ARE CHILDREN, BRUTALLY MURDER KEVAN AND PYCELLE, BECAUSE HE'S BEEN TRYING TO UNDO THE BARATHEON/LANNISTER REIGN FROM THE START AND WANTS TO PUT AEGON ON THE THRONE. Go Varys, T. B. H.

Okay, George. Bring on the next one, I'm ready to go.

Hi, I'm new at livejournal, so sorry if I fuck this up. I wanted to ask you: What happens with Margaery? She dies, she gets free like Cersei or what? Thanks! (I can't wait till the 12 :P)

Margaery never actually appears in person (or Loras, which PISSED ME OFF, I want to know what happened to him and they never say >:( ) but the other characters tell Cersei that she was freed pretty much immediately, but is awaiting trial.

Ok, thanks!! I love the Tyrells and when I read that Cersei was freed I was expecting the worst to happen to Margaery...

Cersei does get freed, but she goes through a lot more to get there than Margaery does. It seems like Margaery probably still has the upper hand, for now.
